Hi! I’m George Goeschel
Portfolio Design Manager at IBM
I started at IBM in 2004 as a Senior UX Designer. I have spent the early part of my career in IBM’s consulting division designing interfaces, creating wireframes, and producing visual designs for desktop and mobile platforms. I also conducted user research activities including interviews, ethnography, and persona development. I have facilitated usability testing primarily in the form of cognitive walkthroughs, focus groups, and surveys. I am certified in Enterprise Design Thinking. And I have worked in a variety of industries including: Travel & Transportation, Insurance, Banking, Telecom, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Supply Chain, and Industrial Products.
In 2018, I moved to the office of the CIO at IBM and have lead a team of designers with the goal to design delightful applications that make IBMers more productive. In this role, I work with designers to review their work, help them resolve project issues, and talk through best practices to create award winning designs. I regularly mentor and coach designers on navigating their career at IBM. Additionally, I was responsible for creating a best-in-class onboarding program, which was credited with promoting high job satisfaction ratings as well as lower attrition rates. Finally, I took on the responsibility of managing a portfolio of design work for three executive vice presidents and IBM’s CIO. This rewarding opportunity gave me the chance to interact with executives, understand their design needs, recommend priories of work and assign and mange design resources to meet these obligations.
In my spare time, I am an avid reader, foodie, and you often can find me on a yoga mat.
